I’m skipping my normal Friday Confession this week. Though if you really want to explore one of my parenting and literacy advocate sins, one of my past posts was reposted over at The Motherhood Collective yesterday.
Instead, I’m participating in the Picture Book 10 for 10 event, hosted by Reflect and Refine and Enjoy and Embrace Learning. I wrestled a little with a theme for the list. So it, admittedly, is a little bit theme-less. Let’s just call it the list of books I find myself recommending over and over again. Maybe Books Every New Teacher Should Have In A Classroom Library? Or, Books Every Child Should Hear? Whatever the theme…these are picture books (both new and old) that I love.
That’s my 10! What’s on your list?

Wow! 7 of your 10 are new to me! Adding them to my library list!
Love your list! The Gardener was also on mine and I had The Cloud Spinner on my desk and then couldn’t fit it in. Boy & Bot is also a wonderful title! So challenging to choose!
Wow – a great list! I loved Baby Bear Sees Blue. I have The Lonely Book in my TBR pile now. I have to check out The Gardener! Thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to check out The Lonely Book, thanks for joining us.
I just bought The Art of Miss Chew … such a amazing story and I’m such a big fan of Patricia Polacco already.
You have more of my favorites: The Gardener!!! and Chrysthanemum. We love Knuffle Bunny too!
Thanks for the great list. Will try to check out the others!
I think that might be why I enjoyed Miss Chew so much. I’ve been a fan of Polacco for years and years, and while so many of her books are based on her own life, this one seemed especially personal. It was a nice tribute to someone (really, two people) who was so influential in her life. That’s what every teacher wants, right?
The quiltmaker’s gift can be read for free as an ebook on http://www.funeread.com/krokebooks/e-books/mouse/princesses-knights/the-quiltmaker-s-gift.html
