Happy Friday, all.
Are you busy making holiday plans? Are you running a crazy amount of errands?
We’ll be traveling next week, and have plans this weekend, so this week has meant a lot of errands for me. One of which was a trip to the library so that we could get new reading and listening material before hitting the road. After we came back, I was scrambling around in the kitchen, trying to throw dinner together, when I looked up and caught this:
She is my child, for sure. She’s not old enough to read yet, but she’s starting to show interest in how the letters and sounds she knows come together in the form of words and sentences. And, of course, whether she can read it herself or not, she’s always up for a good story.
So I snapped a picture and was about to go on my way back to the kitchen when she held the book up to show me a particular picture she found funny.
Recognize the illustrations? Let me zoom in for you, just in case.
Add my child to the legions of children who are learning (or have learned) to read with Junie B. Jones, whose author, Barbara Park, died this week.
As an author, there’s no greater achievement. I imagine that makes Mrs. Park smile.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends.
