Happy Labor Day!
We made our last pool trip of the season yesterday and today is for grilling, sprinkler play, and friends. It still feels very much like summer here, but school starts again this week, and the fall weather won’t be far behind.
In the meantime, here’s what we’ve read this week:
Bridget Fidget and Pet the Most Perfect
by Joe Berger
Bridget has always wanted a unicorn for a pet. When a box arrives one day, she’s sure it must be her pet unicorn. Maybe. Well, or maybe something smaller. Now if she could just get that box open…
Great voice and child-like quirkiness.
(Clicking on the above image will take you to the Goodreads page. Where the description doesn’t match the title. I have no idea why. But the reviews are there )
by Simon James
While visiting my parents recently, my 4yo spent a good deal of time playing with a doctor’s kit. All the adults had to take their turn being both the patient and doctor. So both the kiddo and I can relate to Nurse Clementine, who has received her very own doctor’s kit and now must practice on everyone in the whole family. After all, when there is a real emergency, Nurse Clementine needs to be up to the task!
by Paul Schmid
Poor Percy. It’s hard to be a balloon-loving porcupine. Simple story, simple text, simple pictures, but a lovely overall package.
Unicorn Thinks He’s Pretty Great
by Bob Shea
My pick of the week! I read this book. And laughed out loud. And then I passed it to my husband and grinned like a fool while I watched him read it and he laughed out loud, too. The dry humor is *so* my style. And all this was before I shared it with the 4yo.
Here’s to the start of the fall season, friends! Have a fabulous week!
